Jeff Skinner, Lead Pastor
|
Pastor Jeff grew up in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He attended Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville TN and got his degree in Music Business. While at Trevecca he reconnected with a girl he had met on tour with a men’s vocal group. After graduation he got a job in Columbus GA, Where he and Lisa began their life together.
After leading music in several churches in Georgia and Alabama, Jeff opened his own Computer Consulting business. At the age of 36 he began to sense a call to ministry. After much prayer, counseling with mentors and discussion with Lisa, he entered the graduate program at Northwest Nazarene university where got a Masters Degree in Religion with an emphasis in Spiritual Formation. After the completion of His degree, working as the outreach pastor at one church, and helping to restart another, he and Lisa moved to Auburn Alabama to begin planting EaglePointe. Jeff Was ordained in May of 2006.
It was in Auburn that they connected with the Lee County Foster Care system and were able to adopt their two children. They brought Hayden home from the hospital March 29, 2007, and received Blaine In December of 2007. In addition to his ministry at EaglePointe, Jeff still works as a System Engineer in his own company, JDS Technologies. He feels this enhances his ministry as it allows him to continually meet new people and gives him many opportunities to share Christ in the work place. His personal philosophy of ministry is to love God and love others sacrificially. |

Lisa Skinner, Youth Pastor
|
Lisa grew up in Columbus, GA, and was “born to teach.” From an early age she would get her stuffed animals, set them up on her bed and “teach” them all she knew from school and church. She attended Columbus State University in Columbus for two years, and then transferred to Trevecca Nazarene University where she completed her degree in teaching. While at Trevecca, she reconnected with a man she had met in her hometown while he was touring with a men’s vocal group. After graduation their relationship progressed, and they became engaged. Her future husband accepted a job in her hometown of Columbus, GA and she got a teaching job there. They married there and began their life together. Lisa worked with the youth at the same church where her husband led the music, while simultaneously pursuing her master’s degree in teaching at Columbus State. After the completion of her master’s degree, she continued to get her Specialist’s degree, and then enrolled in the PhD program at Auburn University. Lisa, having the determination to not be slowed down, continued teaching and volunteering to lead the youth at church, teach Sunday school, and play the piano. During this period of time Lisa was nominated for Teacher of the Year in the Muscogee County school system where she taught. The first time she was nominated, she made it into the top 10, and the next time she was nominated, she was in the top 4 of the entire system. Lisa continues to have a passion for teaching, and continues her career as a classroom teacher.
All too often our churches are forced to use volunteers in the positions that have very little expertise and are hostages to the curriculum. Eagle Pointe is blessed to bring Lisa’s expertise for curriculum and teaching to the church. She is able to mold the curriculum in a way that is engaging to the students. The results are amazing. Students are not only entertained, but because their minds and bodies are fully engaged due to the expertise of a professional educator, the amount of spiritual formation that takes place during Children’s church and Sunday school is nothing less than fascinating to witness.

Krystal G. Scott, Youth Ministry
|
God probably got a good laugh listening to me as a young adult say that I would never move out of Monticello, KY, where I was born, where I grew up, and where my family and many friends still reside. I have been married to my husband, David, for 14 years. We have been blessed with three wonderful children: Tristan, Caitlyn, and Nicholas. Our family originally started out in Somerset, KY. After the birth of our first son, we moved to FL. A part of my heart remains in Florida, as I still have several wonderful friends there. After the birth of our daughter, the birth of our second son, and four years of praying for God to get us back to our home state, we moved to Lexington, KY. After four more years, completely settling in and envisioning ourselves old and gray on our front porch in our rocking chairs, God brought us to Auburn, AL. Obviously, it was in His plan because so many doors have opened for me to serve Him. After several years of feeling the LORD had something more for my life, God has recently revealed to me that His desire for my life is one of ordained ministry in the Church of the Nazarene. Excitedly, I await to see what God’s plans are for me and my family, and for EaglePointe as I pursue this call with all of my heart mind, soul and strength. I will sum it up with one of my favorite verses from the Bible…. Isaiah 6:8:
"Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me."
